Care packages to parents
Our care packages are thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and support to parents with babies in the NICU. Each package includes essential items to help ease the stress of long hospital stays, such as snacks, toiletries, and relaxation items. We also include uplifting messages and resources for emotional support, reminding parents that they are not alone. These care packages are a small gesture of love and hope during a challenging time, helping parents feel seen and cared for as they navigate their NICU journey.

Our sunshine blankets are soft, fleece tie blankets designed to bring warmth and comfort to families with babies in the NICU. Each blanket can be received in two meaningful ways: either pre-assembled and tied with love by our volunteers, or as a kit that parents can put together themselves. For those who choose the latter, it offers a calming, hands-on activity to do while spending time in their child’s room, adding a personal touch of love and care to their baby’s blanket. These blankets symbolize hope and warmth during a difficult time.

Twice a year, Sarah's Sunshine Foundation hosts clothing drives to collect gently used preemie and newborn outfits. These donations help restock the NICU closet, providing parents with the opportunity to pick out a special outfit for their baby. The clothing drives ensure that families have access to clean, cozy clothing for their newborns, offering a small sense of normalcy and joy during their NICU stay. Each item donated brings warmth and comfort to a family in need.

Our craft kits offer parents a creative outlet as a way to cope during their time in the NICU. The initial goal is to provide one craft kit for each pod in the NICU, giving parents an activity to focus on while spending time by their baby's side. As the program grows, we aim to expand and offer even more kits to reach additional families. These kits include simple, relaxing crafts designed to provide a comforting distraction and help parents find moments of peace amidst the challenges they face.
